These are $50 drives so basically disposable. As for BDs failing to rip it's most likely the drive crapping out as opposed to the discs. Make the downgraded 4K UHD drive compatible for 4K Blu.

I have no clue what the diff is but, I've read it won't work. There is a firmware for the WH14NS40 -NS50 but not the WH14NS40. No support what so ever because of the drives age. The tool I wrote will extract firmware from LG and ASUS firmware executable updaters and then if you pass in a firmware bin file it'll ensure it's downgrade enabled. MUCH safer and nearly impossible to brick. It's the last LG product I'll ever purchase as its the 3rd LG drive I've owned to fail due to software update. Using this method it's only flashing the EEPROM parts of the firmware using the drive self update mechanism. Unfortunately the pack doesn't contain a firmware for my drive. This drive will not update and stopped working when I upgraded to windows 10.
